Electronic voting: the professionals speak
Companies that make electronic voting machines have tried to paint their critics as paranoids, eccentrics, or a minority.
The ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) is one of the oldest and most prestigious professional societies in the world of computing. They're solidly in favor of requiring paper records of each vote. Their policy statement says in part "...it is important that physical records (e.g., paper) are maintained to ensure that a vote has been cast accurately and that a meaningful physical record of a vote exists.".
95% of the 4,600 members surveyed agreed with that statement.
